This Summers edition of the Melita newsletter sees a change of editor with Geoffrey Dean handing the reigns to Colin Searle.
Below is a few words from our outgoing editor Geoff and a profile and few words from our incoming editor Colin.

When I realised that I had produced 20 issues of Melita over nearly seven years I thought our Members may be getting tied of my efforts and that you were due for a change. I then heard that Colin, who attends the same local society as I do, was giving up as Editor of The Midlands Philatelic Federation Newsletter I thought it was too good an opportunity to miss.
My term as Editor has been rewarding and I have made many new friends and hope that we can still correspond in the future. The kind comments I have recently received have been very gratifying.
I would like to thank you all for the many contributions that you have sent me. For without these I could not have produced a single Melita. For at the end of the day this is your Newsletter. I am sure that you will be in good hands with Colin Searle who besides having youth on his side has many connections in the Philatelic world.
Going back to my own hobby horse, my database of Forces Censor Marks is still being added to, over 1800 scans and many more entries. I expect that after receiving the new Postal History book many Members will be going through their Forces covers. Can I ask you to remember me and send me scans of your covers, or at least of the most interesting ones. A scan of the album sheet is quite acceptable preferably as a 150dpi jpg. Members names are not divulged and every one helps to increase the Circle’s knowledge bank.

Colin has been a collector of Malta material for 12 years after having lived on the Island from 1958 to 1961. He is particularly keen on the GB used in Malta period from 1857 to 1885.
Colin was until recently the Secretary of the ABPS and is the Secretary of the “Philatelic Congress of Great Britain” held annually at various locations around the UK. He is also involved with the Midlands Philatelic Federation and Midpex.
The Melita is a three times a year publication and is distributed to Malta Study Circle members in the UK and overseas. Colin would like to see the publication become full colour with high definition for its illustration of stamps and postal history.
The Malta Study Circle has 156 members in the UK and overseas and is next due to meet in Malta for Maltex in October 2010 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Malta’s first stamp the ½d yellow.
Colin is semi-retired and lives near Stratford-upon-Avon with his wife Yvonne. They have 2 grown up children living in Manchester and California.
