Amongst the sale was a specialized collection of War Tax issues which included the below Malta lots.

Spink offer a 'bidlive' tool which enables you to watch the auction from your own home PC, odd thing was I was pretty sure lot 1343 flashed by as reserve not met, then viewing the companion live update sheet it was listed as 'passed' - normally meant to mean unsold.. i was curious as I'd placed a bid!. Contacting Spink after the auction I was told it was in fact sold in the room (for higher than my bid) - very odd?. I was thus very disappointed as misplaced overprints on this value don't come round that often.

War Tax Stamps Malta 1/2d. deep green lower right corner block of twelve with plate number "2", variety overprint grossly misplaced diagonally upward to the right, fresh unmounted mint; folded between horizontally at centre. A rare and spectacular error.
