The February Collectors Series from Spink contained some very interesting Malta material, from early letters to Proofs there was something for every interest.

Below is the auction results but first a personal review of the auction, it may be interesting to note i 'attended' the auction via the Spink Live services and for anyone who hasn't tried it i can thoroughly recommend it. Accessible from your browser and following a successful registration you simple log in a select the Auction you would like to take part in. There is not pre registering of bid numbers (or paddles as I believe they are now called) when you register and enter an auction your/a number is automatically assigned.

You have the option to customise your experience but you can get full visual and audio of the auctioneer, there is a scrolling list of lots and images as the auction proceeds and an enlarged image and description of each current lot, as the bids increment you can see the increments on the screen with the live commentary and at any time you can press your bid button (all far too easy !).

There were 139 Malta lots and of these 27 were unsold, mainly from the early postal history group, which is surprising as it appeared a lot more lots where not selling at the opening estimates ?, maybe there was some 'after sale activity'.. but with only a few exceptions there didn't seem much interest and went very cheap?. The highest price was paid for Lot xxx an 1885 essay which went for a hammer price of £32,000 (then add another 22%!) ; below are some of the highlights :
